Grow or die

Houston’s Menil Collection has selected the British firm David Chipperfield Architects to design a master plan for the museum’s site in Montrose. Chipperfield has already done similar plans for the Penn Museum in Philadelphia, the Neues Museum in Berlin; and the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center, Alaska. The plan aims to "maintain the Menil’s sophisticated modesty" as the institution adda a cafe, auditorium, drawing center, archives, a few more individual artist pavillions, and develops commercial property it owns along the new Richmond Metro rail line.
