How much wood would a . . .

by Bill Davenport January 5, 2008

La Reunion TX , the utopian community-cum-artist-residency program in Oak Cliff section of Dallas, is fixing to remove some unwanted trees and is looking for eco-friendly executioners. On February 2, as a part of the their annual tree-carving festival , selected artists will thin out dead and dying non-native trees by removing bark using muscle-powered chisels, axes and knives, enabling the tree to become a decomposing feast for bugs and birds.  The art part is extra. Trees tagged for the axe have their own gallery on Flickr . Would-be tin men, choose your victims.
