The kids are alright

TONIGHT, Friday, Aug. 3, 6pm onward, is a group show by the UH graduate painting students with a catchy name: Daniel Radcliffe Dong Party (check out the even catchier flyer). Is the younger generation a stagnating cesspool of apathetic careerists, as the glory-days-of-Lawndale group would have it? Or is there actually life in them thar hills? Only a visit to this show will prove whether there's quality work behind the catchy graphic design.

This is actually bad painting…..It makes me want to stretch all the linen….This is just bad painting……the work at sonja ros…….and wade wil…….is actually more thoughtful……………?
This is painterly pretension……….Stella is bad enough….a sculpture who wants to be a painting……
what would Barbara Rose say????
Barbara come back…..! We need you!

Much of the exhibition consists of seminal works by this diligent artist. The exhibition is dense and worth seeing and learning more about the history of abstraction around the world. That is when his work opens up, If one purely uses the lens of Art History, I could be wrong but, I’m afraid one may suffer from myopia.
